With plans underway to re-designate National Feng-Shan Commercial & Industrial Vocational School (FSVS) as an affiliate school of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, an explanatory session was organized at the NPUST campus to discuss a number of related details.
FSVS Principal Cheng Yueh-Ting was accompanied by several directors from the school for the meeting, which was held at the NPUST International Conference Hall on Sept. 16, 2019.
NPUST Vice-President for Education Affairs Shi-jer Lou provided a briefing on the school. He also led the NPUST delegation which was comprised of faculty and staff members, members of the 2019 Student Association, the 2019 Student Council and the NPUST Alumni Association.
The different groups of representatives discussed details surrounding the affiliate school relationship, including how FSVS school funding mechanisms would operate following the reorganization and how funding could be injected into the school to assist with its development.
With corresponding roles in the field of technical education, the two institutions have enjoyed a healthy relationship with one another for some time now. In the past, the pair has participated in a variety of cooperative projects, and every year more than 30 students graduating from FSVS migrate to NPUST to begin tertiary studies. The new relationship will help further unite NPUST’s comprehensive resources with Kaohsiung’s industry networks and technical training organizations— not only increasing inter-district industry-academic cooperation, but also expanding student recruitment, joint research, and cooperative projects, for a situation that will stand to benefit both parties.
