On September 10, 2026 a new exhibition showcasing the entrepreneurial energy and technological innovation emerging from southern Taiwan’s Pingtung County opened, bringing together local startups working across artificial intelligence, traditional craftsmanship, smart agriculture and biotechnology.
EMERGING INNOVATION AND TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP
Organized by the Innovation and Incubation Center of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in partnership with the Pingtung County Government’s Department of Labor and Youth Development, the Pingtung Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center, and the Pingtung Digital Youth Entrepreneurship Center, the Pingtung Startup “River of Time” Exhibition will run through October 10 at the Pingtung Digital Youth Entrepreneurship Center.
Under the theme “Smart Technology × Sustainable Innovation × Local Empowerment,” the exhibition highlights how collaboration between universities, government and local entrepreneurs can help traditional industries embrace new technologies while creating more sustainable and locally rooted businesses.
The exhibition takes its name, “River of Time,” from the idea that entrepreneurial innovation develops over time—from academic research and incubation to commercialization and long-term growth. Individual ideas and ventures come together like streams, forming a larger force for local economic and industrial transformation.
WHERE TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP MEETS AI
Among the featured startups is Muyu Suoyou Co., Ltd., led by a national gold-medal woodworking champion. The company has developed an AI-powered “Furniture Doctor” that applies artificial intelligence to traditional woodworking, helping diagnose furniture problems and support restoration. The technology offers a new way to preserve and renew older furniture while bringing traditional craftsmanship into the digital age.
MAKING SMART AGRICULTURE MORE ACCESSIBLE
Chudong Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is lowering the barrier to smart agriculture with its AI-powered digital imaging system. Farmers can simply take photos of their crops, allowing the system to accurately identify leaf age and generate precision fertilization forecasts. The technology offers an efficient, practical solution tailored to the needs of local farmers, helping bring data-driven agricultural tools within easier reach.
GREEN BIOTECHNOLOGY REACHES GLOBAL MARKETS
Lan Yun Tissue Culture Co., Ltd. is showcasing advanced sterile tissue-culture technology for the stable, large-scale production of high-quality aquatic plants. The company has successfully brought its products to international markets, highlighting the global potential of Pingtung’s biotechnology sector and the region’s growing capabilities in sustainable, high-tech agriculture and aquaculture applications.
HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES BRING INNOVATION TO THE COMMUNITY
To give visitors and families a closer look at the technologies behind these emerging businesses, the exhibition will host interactive activities every Saturday throughout the exhibition period.
Programs include traditional mortise-and-tenon woodworking workshops, interactive food and agriculture education, and sterile tissue-culture DIY sessions. Through these hands-on experiences, visitors can explore how technology, traditional knowledge and sustainable living can come together in practical ways.
