President Chin-Lung Chang expressed his hope that during this energetic Year of the Horse, NPUST team work and university development would gallop forward like a spirited steed, bravely surmounting challenges while accelerating international integration and actively taking lead the future.

In his address, President Chin-Lung Chang noted that since its founding, NPUST has evolved for over a century to become a benchmark international top-tier university in Southern Taiwan. The recently concluded “National Conference for the University Presidents” which was held at NPUST successfully gathered heavyweight figures from Taiwan’s higher education sector for a time of rich exchange. The event, which showcased NPUST’s research achievements and practical capabilities in fields such as Smart Agriculture, Smart Vehicles, and Food Science, received widespread acclaim. With long-term commitments to sustainable governance, beginning Since 2014, NPUST has also ranked No. 1 in Taiwan for 12 consecutive years in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. The university has also received numerous accolades in domestic University Social Responsibility (USR) evaluations and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) competitions.

The event also featured a high-energy New Year performance by children from the NPUST Affiliated Kindergarten as well as festive activity booths such as “Instant Brilliance, Good Luck Together” and “Instant Success, Loop in Happiness.” Bringing together faculty, staff, and international students, the activities integrated diverse cultural elements and ‘Year of the Horse’ imagery. Participants wrote Year of the Horse blessings in various languages and took part in a “Horse Ring Toss” game which symbolized “looping in” happiness to create an infinite cycle of hope, unity, and positive energy.

As the new year moves forward, NPUST will use this year’s annual character “Chéng” as its spiritual guide. The university aims to continue building consensus and cohesion, steadily promoting campus development and sustainable governance. Alongside its faculty and students, NPUST is charging toward a brilliant future, dedicated to making a profound impact on higher education and society at large.
