The Department of Fashion Design and Management at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) held an end-of-semester exhibition from December 22 to 26, 2025. The comprehensive event, which showcased the hard work and creativity of students throughout the semester, was divided into dynamic and static exhibitions, providing the audience with a multi-layered viewing experience. The biannual exhibition is designed to encourage mutual learning and healthy competition among students of every level, and is a great opportunity for faculty members and students to witness the progress being made across the department.
DYNAMIC EXHIBITION
The dynamic exhibition took place on the afternoon of December 22 at the Department of Fashion Design and Management courtyard. Students walked a red-carpet runway to present works from several key courses, including Garment Construction (Instructor: Chao-Jung Lai), Poise and Etiquette (Instructor: Hsien-Yin Wen), and Development and Application of Fashion Materials (Instructor: Shu-Fang Huang)
The core of these courses focused on garment structure and pattern making. Through practical operations such as drafting and sewing, students transformed abstract design concepts into tangible garments. During this process, they gained deep insights into clothing proportions and structural logic while developing high standards for detail and quality. By experimenting with various materials, colors, and textures, students developed unique design styles, moving from basic patterns to diverse techniques. Their works demonstrated that clothing is not only functional but also a medium for conveying emotions and ideas. Furthermore, students conducted research and innovative applications of materials based on fashion trends and market demands, showcasing a keen look at modern aesthetics.
STATIC EXHIBITION
The static exhibition featured a rich variety of specialized works across several classrooms:
- Textile Design (Instructor: Wei-Her Hsieh)
- Introduction to Basic Design and Mixed Media Performance Techniques (Instructor: Shu-Fang Huang) –
- Creative Hair Design (Instructor: Yueh-Shen Cheng)
- Monograph on Sustainable Fashion (Instructor: Chao-Jung Lai)
- Advanced Draping and Menswear Design (Instructors: Chao-Jung Lai and Shih-Ming Hsia)
- Ergonomics (Instructor: Shih-Ming Hsia)
- Beauty Styling (Instructor: Shiu-Tsu Chen)
The exhibition also included a Fashion Accessory Design and Application installment, which displayed individual works ranging from initial sketches to finished products, reflecting the experience of the students’ comprehensive learning progress. As visitors moved from classroom to classrooms, they were able to take in a wide range of apparels, accessories, makeup designs, and brand planning while also reading stories behind each piece so that they could get an appreciation for the students’ creative philosophies.
This exhibition served as both a stage for students to showcase their achievements and a valuable opportunity to interact with the industry and gain practical experience. The department extends its sincere thanks to all faculty, students, and members of the public who attended, and invites continued support for the students’ future creative endeavors.
