The Graduate Institute of Hakka Cultural Industry at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) organized the “Hakka Voice Acting Training Class for Youth” in collaboration with MiDiA Communication Co. in Pingtung City this September (2025). The three-day intensive program was designed to cultivate new Hakka voice talent in southern Taiwan.

The program, which was funded under the SIG Highlight Project at the NPUST College of Humanities and Social Sciences, recruited students from NPUST and local youth who possess basic Hakka language skills. Experienced professionals were invited to instruct the classes including, Ms. Song Jing-Ling, a Golden Bell Award-winning radio host and veteran Mandarin, Hakka, and Taiwanese voice actor and Ms. Zi-Ling Luo, a voice-over supervisor and a host on Hakka Radio.

The program aimed to cultivate a reserve of Hakka voice-over talent by enhancing the participants’ vocal expression and creative skills. In this way, the organizers hope to inject new vitality into the professional Hakka voice acting field in southern Taiwan.

The training, which took place on September 6th and September 13th–14th, covered vocalization techniques, voice modulation, vocal expression, and practical exercises in voice acting for animation and drama.

The Graduate Institute of Hakka Cultural Industry reported that 12 participants attended the activates, including graduate students from the Institute, Hakka youth opinion leaders, community Hakka story-tellers, and cultural park volunteers.

The Institute expressed its hopes that the program will open a new avenue for Hakka voice talent cultivation and confirmed its plans to continue promoting advanced courses in the future to boost the employment competitiveness of Hakka professionals in southern Taiwan.
