NPUST Honors 8 Faculty Members with the “2025 Outstanding Mentor Award”

On November 2 (2026), the Office of Student Affairs at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) hosted the All-University Mentor Conference for the First Semester of the 2026 Academic Year. During the event, which was held at the International Conference Hall, NPUST President Chin-Lung Chang personally presented the “2025 Academic Year Outstanding Mentor Award” to eight mentors who stood out for exceptional service:

  • Pei-Chun Lai (Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management)
  • Shu-Fang Huang (Department of Fashion Design and Management)
  • Yueh-Hui Wang (Department of Child Care)
  • Li-Yu Chang (Department of Social Work)
  • Pearl Pei-Chun Chang (Department of Tropical Agriculture and International Cooperation)
  • Kuo-Chan Tseng (Department of Food Science)
  • Tung-Lin Wu (Department of Wood Science and Design)
  • Ya-Mei Chen (Department of Veterinary Medicine)

COMPREHENSIVE THREE-TIER GUIDANCE SYSTEM

In accordance with Taiwan’s Student Guidance and Counseling Act, NPUST implements a three-tier counseling mechanism. Tier 1 (Developmental Guidance) involves primary care delivered by faculty members to support students across academic pursuits, daily life, and career development. Tier 2 (Intervention Guidance) provides tailored, needs-based interventions, including consultations, individual counseling, small-group guidance, and supportive counseling measures. Finally, Tier 3 (Remedial Guidance) offers specialized counseling delivered by the Student Counseling Center for students experiencing severe campus adjustment difficulties or requiring sustained psychological support.

Together, these three tiers provide holistic care, ensuring students receive companionship and guidance as they navigate living away from home, academic pressures, lifestyle adjustments, and interpersonal or emotional challenges.

HONORING MENTORS AS GUIDING BEACONS

When students encounter difficulties, their faculty mentor is usually the first person they turn to. Mentors play an indispensable front-line role in identifying, facing, and resolving student issues.

To honor these dedicated educators, NPUST conducts an annual selection of Outstanding Mentors to acknowledge their behind-the-scenes devotion to teaching and student care. By celebrating these eight award recipients, the university once again expresses its gratitude for their professionalism and steadfast presence—guiding students like bright beacons along their learning journeys and personal growth.
