To foster a warm, safe, and inclusive campus atmosphere, the Office of Student Affairs at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) held the “2026 Friendly Campus Day” event on Monday, April 27th. Breaking away from the monotony of traditional policy advocacy, the event invited the Pingtung County Police Bureau and the Neipu Township Health Center to collaborate with the university’s Personnel Office and Center for Environmental Protection, Safety and Health to create an entertaining and educational experience. On campus a variety of creative booths combining social media, sensory education, and cultural handicrafts attracted enthusiastic participation from faculty and students alike and demonstrated the university’s commitment to protecting student well-being.
Making Traffic Rules and Health Issues Tangible
Under the guidance of the Traffic Police Corps, the “Campus Hunter” booth used interactive games to help students identify campus traffic hotspots and share anti-fraud and anti-drug information. Meanwhile, the Neipu Township Health Center assisted in organizing the “Edge of Suffocation” sensory experience and the “U=U Knowledge Wheel” interactive game to promote comprehensive sex education.
Gender Equality, Human Rights, and Indigenous Culture
To address diverse social issues, activities such as “Bias Eyewear Shop” and “Gender-Friendly with You,” along with “Manga Fortune Telling,” “Hydroponic Plant Handicrafts,” and “Gender-Friendly Questionnaires,” were used to explore and promote concepts of gender equality. Through gentle dialogue, students learned to respect multiculturalism in a relaxed atmosphere.
The “Indige-Power Bloom” booth offered tribal language experiences, displays of Indigenous clothing, cultural cards, and bracelet weaving—warming up the atmosphere and highlighting some of the different ethnic identities on campus. Simultaneously, the “Send Gratitude” activity encouraged students to handwrite postcards to convey warmth and put the virtues of human rights and filial piety into practice.
University-Wide Participation
This year’s Friendly Campus Day also featured the “Creating a Happy Space” booth, co-organized by the Personnel Office and the Center for Environmental Protection, Safety and Health. Specifically designed for university staff, it included friendly workplace Q&A sessions and creative handicraft experiences. These interactions integrated workplace human rights awareness with the warmth of handmade crafts, collectively safeguarding the mental and physical balance and sense of happiness of the faculty and staff.
Student Clubs Ignite Campus Vitality
The energetic participation of student clubs was a major highlight of the event. The opening featured the Harmonica Club, whose members performed crisp and beautiful melodies with skillful techniques. Several popular and energetic pieces were interwoven to bring a refreshing atmosphere to the venue. This was followed by a dynamic dance performance by the Wini Manga Research Club, with dancers moving precisely to powerful rhythms and igniting the crowd with their passionate energy. The students’ bold displays of diverse talent showcased the fruitful results of club activities and mirrored the inclusive spirit of the Friendly Campus event.
Culinary Surprises
A special invitation was extended to Professor Kuo-Chan Tseng from the Department of Food Science to join the festivities. Combining current trends with professional research from the Innovative Food Processing Lab, special NPUST Black and White Culinary edition ice creams were created as prizes for completing activity challenges. Students who accumulated the required points could exchange them for rich and mellow “Fresh Milk Ice Cream” or fragrant “Black Sesame Ice Cream.” This surprise treat not only provided relief under the warm sun but also allowed participants to experience the perfect fusion of the university’s R&D strength and friendly creativity.
