NPUST Affiliated Veterinary Teaching Hospital Opens in Pingtung City

The National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) Affiliated Veterinary Teaching Hospital held an unveiling ceremony for its Pingtung City campus on November 27 (2025), coinciding with NPUST’s 101st anniversary.

The ceremony was witnessed by NPUST President Chin-Lung Chang, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine Ming-Tang Chiou, Director of the Department of Veterinary Medicine Yi-Lun Tsai, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Li-Hsuan Lin together with guests from industry, government, and academic sectors. The opening of the city campus marks a new milestone for NPUST’s veterinary education and clinical service capacity.

President Chin-Lung Chang expressed gratitude to the guests for coming to witness the important occasion. In his remarks, he pointed out that since its founding 100 years ago, NPUST has continuously focused on improving veterinary education and clinical technology— and the Affiliated Veterinary Teaching Hospital has earned societal recognition for its high-quality medical services.

The new campus is equipped with comprehensive equipment and will enhance medical efficiency and safety through standardized diagnostic procedures, segregated patient flow, and specialized services.

Director Li-Hsuan Lin explained that the new campus not only carries the achievements of the past century but also shoulders the three major missions of clinical teaching, animal healthcare, and social service in the present. It aims to hone students’ skills in a real clinical setting, provide more precise and high-efficiency medical care, and collaborate with community and non-profit organizations to promote animal welfare and life education.

NPUST faculty and students are deeply thankful to the alumni who made it possible for the new campus to be established through their generous support and donations. Following the ceremony, the medical team led the guests on a tour of core spaces, including the consultation rooms, operating rooms, and imaging center—showcasing the medical capacity and spatial design to the public and providing them with a deeper understanding of the new campus’s comprehensive features.

Through higher standards of medical guardianship and professional training, the university will continue to raise public awareness of animal welfare and establish a new animal healthcare base in Southern Taiwan that is professional, high-quality, and compassionate.
