Over 300 Participate in NPUST Annual Water Sports Meet

The NPUST Annual Water Sports Meet was held with a splash once again at the school swimming pool on May 21st, 2025. The opening ceremony was jointly hosted by Vice-President for Education Shang-Min Ma and Office Physical Education Director of the Hsiu-Ching Lin, both of whom cheered on the participating teachers and students. The event started with the fun-filled “Water Treasure Hunt” competition followed by such events as 50-meter freestyle and breaststroke. More than 300 faculty members, staff and students enthusiastically participated in the meet, making for a scene that was filled with fun and a healthy competition.

Vice-President Shang-Min Ma wished that all participating teachers and students well, expressing his hopes that they would enjoy fun competition and see good results. NPUST holds the annual water sports meet every year in May, and it has seen strong support and healthy participation from both students and faculty alike.

In addition to the “Water Treasure Hunt” event, this year’s meet included a variety of fun and challenging competitions, such as “The Moon Surrounded by Stars”, “Flying Train”, “Fluster”, “Riding the Same Boat” and the “Freshmen 100M Relay”. The fun competitions were designed to attract broad participation and put the cooperation skills of the participating teams to the test. Meanwhile, the “Freshman 100M Relay” was specially added to encourage new students to get in the water and give full play to their abilities. For the more standard events, including 50-meter breaststroke and 50-meter freestyle, the races were organized according to the three groups of general, open, and faculty—with participants in each category working hard to demonstrate their physical stamina and swimming skills.

With temperatures in May often exceeding 30°C, the water sports meet is a great way for students and teachers at NPUST to beat the heat. It is also seen as a way to promote physical and mental health by encouraging exercise and social interaction. In the future, the university will continue to develop various sports activities and provide more platforms for self-expression and physical fitness, so that faculty members and students can fully enjoy a healthy campus life and working environment.
