In order celebrate 100 years since the founding of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), a calligraphy competition was held through the joint efforts of the Foundation for Cultural and Educational Alumni of NPUST and the university on April 28th (2025) and the school’s library and exhibition hall. In total, 118 calligraphy works were judged by five panelists. The competition aimed to foster academic cohesion, promote the artistic quality of Chinese calligraphy, and encourage the learning of calligraphy.
The five judges who were invited to assess the works included the founder of the Chinese Calligraphy Research Association, Chien-Fa Lin, the chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy Research Association of Pingtung County (Executive Supervisor of the NPUST Alumni Association and calligraphy club teacher) Kong-Ho Huang, the former chairman of the Pingtung County Chinese Calligraphy Society, Liang-Kuang Chang, the former chairman of the Republic of China Calligraphy Education Association and current assistant professor of the CJCU Department of Calligraphy and Painting Arts, Ying-Chih Chien, and the former chairman of the Kaohsiung Chinese Calligraphy Society, Chin-Kuei Tsai.
A total of 23 teachers, students and alumni of NPUST participated in the event together with 29 teachers, students and 18 alumni of friendly schools and 66 members of the public. A total of 118 excellent works were submitted this year, and the top three winners in each category will be exhibited on the first floor of the NPUST Library and Exhibition Hall from April 25 to May 9 (2025).
