Department of Soil and Water Conservation Participates in the Ministry of Agriculture’s 2nd Environmental Education Seminar and Sports Competition

The NPUST Department of Soil and Water Conservation was invited to National Chung Cheng University and the Nice Prince Hotel in Chiayi City on April 18-19 to participate in the 2nd Environmental Education Seminar and Sports Competition hosted by the MOA Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation. The event focused on promoting environmental education and sharing the results of rural development practices. Hopes were to promote friendship and cooperation among different agencies and schools through sports competitions and training courses. It was also an excellent opportunity to bring together representatives of industry, government, and academia involved in the field of rural development and soil and water conservation across Taiwan.

With College of Engineering Dean Tien-Chien Chen and Department Director Ming-Hsi Lee leading the group, a total seven teachers from NPUST participated in the event. In addition to attending the Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation Business Achievements Presentation and Dinner, the teachers also actively participated in the sports competitions and the orienteering and environmental education activity. The NPUST representatives were even able to win first place in the badminton group competition and take second place in the table tennis group—demonstrating the high cohesion and excellent cooperation between the members of the College of Engineering.

The Department of Soil and Water Conservation has long been committed to sustainable rural development, and by participating in this event, not only were they able to deepen the relationship between NPUST and the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, but were also able demonstrate the department’s care and interest in national sustainable development issues. In the future, the department will continue to strengthen exchange and cooperation with government agencies and other sectors while working to promote environmental education and scientific research on sustainable land management.
