NPUST and Club Med Hold 2024 Leisure Tourism Forum

The NPUST Department of Recreational Sport & Health Promotion and Club Med jointly held the 2024 Leisure Tourism International Forum on campus on March 20th. With the aim of expanding talent recruitment in Taiwan and adding depth to industry-university cooperation, Club Med signed a memorandum of cooperation together with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), Shih Chien University, and Taiwan National University of Sport, Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Ling Tung University, and Tainan University of Technology.

NPUST President Chin Lung Chang said: “This year marks NPUST’s 100th anniversary. Beginning as an agricultural school, it has now become a comprehensive university of science and technology where students can study across different fields and cultivate a diverse set expertise. Industries are changing and developing very rapidly, and so, if students are able to acquire and cultivate international competitiveness and international mobility during their studies, they will have greater confidence to accept challenges when they are presented with opportunities from all over the world. Club Med Group, who accepted the invitation to participate in this forum, has a corporate development model and scale of operation which are in line with the school’s objectives when it comes to encouraging students to increase international mobility and international competitiveness.”

Director Ming-Hong Chen of the NPUST Department of Recreational Sport & Health Promotion said: “Club Med is a resort group originating from France that operates more than 70 resorts around the world. We look forward to establishing a long-term cooperative relationship with them so that our students can accumulate trans-national work experience and broaden their international outlook as they work together with large-scale international teams.”

Lisa Clare Kruger-Reed, APAC Director of Learning and Development at Club Med, said: “Club Med attaches great importance to Taiwanese talent and will continue to deepen industry-university cooperation with Taiwanese universities this year, to help students acquire cross-border and diversified work experience and cultivate future talents for our resorts. We look forward to doubling the number of recruits from Taiwan this year.”

NPUST has been cooperating with Club Med for many years, and many of its students have gone on to work for the resort group after graduation. This current cooperation will continue to follow the industry-university exchange model used in the past, and will provide students with more diverse overseas internship options.
