Ministry of Education Awards Professor Ching-Jung Chen with Lifetime Achievement Award

Renowned artist and professor, Ching-Jung Chen, has devoted his life to the promotion and creation of art. Sharing a deep connection with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), in 2011 Professor Chen generously donated 40 masterpieces to the school. To display the works, NPUST established the Ching-Jung Chen Art Museum in the Arts Center on the 3rd floor of the Library and Exhibition Hall. Since then, the collection has grown to include more than 50 paintings, all of which have been donated. In 2022, NPUST awarded Professor Chen with the School Development Contribution Award to thank him for donating the paintings worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Back in 2012, with the approval of the school’s teaching council, Professor Chen was appointed as a “lifetime lecturer professor” at the school, and in 2013 he was invited to serve as the school’s “artist-in-residence”. In his various capacities, Chen has been continuously providing guidance to the faculty and students at NPUST, and helping advance the university’s humanistic and artistic accomplishments. In addition to his outstanding artistic and academic achievements, Chen has spared no effort in giving back to society. For his many contributions, in December 2023, Chen was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the Ministry of Education’s 10th Art Education Contribution Awards. With such great achievements to show for, this honor and distinction is well deserved.

Ching-Jung Chen graduated from the Fine Arts Department of National Taiwan Normal University in 1956, Musashino Art University in 1963, Tokyo Gakugei University in 1965, and in 1967 received a master’s degree from the Mural Research Institute at Tokyo University of the Arts.
