Benevolent Education: BEDA, NPUST and Rotary Club Encourage Youth through Winter Camp

The Benevolent Education “Clever Rabbit” Camp organized over the 2023 winter vacation has come to a successful completion. The camp was jointly organized by the Benevolent Education Development Association, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), and the Agong Rotary Club. Taking place at Chien Fong Junior High School in Kaohsiung from February 8th to 10th, the camp focused on passing on ethics, advocating benevolence and righteousness, learning skillful craftsmanship, and having fun with science.

The Benevolent Education Development Association (BEDA) has long advocated that society be based on filial piety and respect for teachers. BEDA secretary-general Dr. Wei Hsin Li, NPUST Professor Hudson Hsu, and Agong Rotary Club President Cheng-Kai Huang jointly planned out this year’s three-day event which emphasized placing Confucianism and morals as the core of learning. Activities included ‘waste paper recycling’ to experience environmental protection, ‘tea ceremonies with flower arrangements’ to represent the purifying of the soul, ‘sushi making’ to teach about gratitude, and ‘aeronautical science lessons’ to encouraging earning heaven’s favor through diligence. Students got a taste of historic stories about loyalty, filial piety, righteousness, and dedication—for much needed encouragement at a time when societies are becoming increasingly indifferent.
