Hunt Taiwan 2.0 Takes on Alishan 2022

On July 27th and 28th, the 2022 “Hunt Taiwan 2.0” summer series for overseas students made its second rally with a two-day, one-night trip to the forests of Alishan. With a team from the Office of International Affairs leading the way, nearly 40 Overseas Chinese set out together on the adventure into the heights of Chiayi.

On the first day, the course was set for the scenic mountain trails of the National Recreation Area, where the students took in the natural beauty of Alishan. The group toured the fairytale-esque ‘giants of Xianglin Forest’, ‘Ocean of Tea’, and other beautiful sights along the red cypress landscape. On the second day of the excursion, the sightseers travelled the terrain on the “Sunrise Viewing Train”, taking in the beautiful scenery and wondering at the diverse alpine ecology along the way. But in the end, witnessing the sunrise across a sea of clouds and treading along the Eryanping Trail would leave the students with the most precious memories of their off-campus engagement.

As they began making their way back, the students visited the Wanglai mountain plain, Hinoki Village, and Orchid City tourism factory – enjoying more of Taiwan’s unique sights as well as some of its exclusive traditional pastries. Returning to the campus, the students not only brought back with them the fond memories from their experience on the famous mountain of Ali, but also the deeper relationships that they built with one another as they spent time together on their “Hunt Taiwan” adventure—2.0.
