With a theme of “love, joy, and peace”, this year, for the first time, a Christmas tree and decorations were set up on the front square of the Administrative Building on the NPUST campus. The Christmas lights and decorations were installed to give everyone an extra feeling of warmth over the month of December, and as a way for the university to expresses blessings and love to everyone.
NPUST’s president, Chang-Hsien Tai, said “for more than a year we have been under the shadow of the pandemic, and so we hope that through this Christmas celebration, we can bring joy to everyone and spread happiness. We also hope that the epidemic will pass as soon as possible so that we can all return to happy times. Christmas is about gratefulness and peace, so I wish everyone blessings and peace of mind.”
On the square, President Chang-Hsien Tai was joined by colleagues in singing two very representative Christmas songs together: “The Most Precious Gift” and “Silent Night”. The songs signified the hope that “love”, “joy” and “peace” would deeply encircled the hearts of every teacher and student in the NPUST family. At the same time, they also expressed the hope that the dark days of the corona virus would fade away and give way to brighter times—and that people would care for one another and cherish all things around them.
Standing 4.5 meters tall, the fully decorated tree is surrounded by cute snowmen, candy canes, rain deer, and presents, for a pleasant Christmas scene that will hopefully cheer the hearts of teachers and students as they pass by. It also provides a scenic spot where students can take photos and share memories with one another over the Christmas season.
