NPUST and Antai Hospital Sign Strategic Alliance

In order to expand the educational and research capacities of both parties, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) and Antai Tian-Sheng Memorial Hospital have linked up local resources and established a bilateral academic exchange platform. Related professional courses are also being planned out based on the hospital’s workforce needs. On October 26th, NPUST’s president, Chang-Hsien Tai, and the honorary dean of the hospital, Ching-Chyuan Su, signed a strategic alliance agreement at the university.

NPUST’s president, Chang-Hsien Tai said that “As a comprehensive university, NPUST has expertise in multiple departments and institutes which can complement the special features of the hospital. And so we welcome our colleagues from the hospital to the university to take part in advanced studies. Through the professional teachers’ curriculum organized with the hospital, students from the university will also be able to absorb advanced experience and inter-disciplinary knowledge. We hope that we will be able to have closer and more frequent cooperation with the hospital in the future.”

Honorary dean Su said “Antai Hospital provides diverse and comprehensive medical services for patients seeking treatment. Relatively speaking, with respect to humanities and social work, NPUST’s rich resources offer a closely-related synchronicity. We hope to work towards common goals together.”

NPUST has a total of seven colleges, including Agriculture, Engineering, Management, Humanities & Social Science, International Cooperation, Veterinary Medicine, and Professional Studies. Each of these departments is rich in educational resources— and in addition to general research has been committed to academia-industry cooperation. Work is being carried out to actively promote various industry-academia services and technology transfers in order to facilitate the establishment of sustainable businesses and allow the effects of smart technology to be realized.

Antai Hospital, whose mission it is to create a Pingtung Health Park, also serves as a transfer hospital for emergencies and severe cases in the southern Pingtung district. For many years, Antai has been actively developing its medical resources while simultaneously striving to provide patients with the most comprehensive medical services. Their pursuit of quality care and implementation of educational research has translated into excellent results on their evaluations— and has allowed them to maintain sustainable operations. Based on their respective needs, the parties will exchange experience and technology with one another, and host visits and consultations with the aim of developing clinical teaching through academic seminars. Students will be guided on papers and in special studies, and integrated courses will be set up to enhance the hospital’s industry-academia competitiveness. In the future, the two parties will form research teams and support each other by co-organizing various education, training and internship activities oriented towards industrial upgrades.
