NPUST Holds Flag Ceremony for National Intercollegiate Athletic Games Athletes

The annual National Intercollegiate Athletic Games (2021) are just around the corner. In preparation, today (April 30), at the square in front of the Administration Building, a flag ceremony was held for the participating athletes and coaches. NPUST’s president, Chang-Hsien Tai, presided over the ceremony and presented the university flag to its representative teams.

This year, NPUST will send 133 athletes, who will be representing its 11 teams: track & field, swimming, badminton, billiards, table tennis, judo, taekwondo, wrestling, karate, woodball, and soft tennis.

At last year’s games, NPUST was proud to bring home 4 golds, 1 silver, and 5 bronzes. This year, the school has its eyes set on the gold in both men’s and women’s table tennis, and women’s singles and women’s doubles tennis. In addition to the expectations of strong performances, the school also hopes to see its athletes demonstrate a strong spirit of sportsmanship and embody the school’s core value of “holistic education”.

This year’s National Intercollegiate Athletic Games will be held at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan from May 7th to May 18th. With the encouragement and confidence of President Tai behind them, the university looks forward to seeing the results of the hard training the athletes have put in over the past year—wishing them a safe and successful competition as they represent their university on the national stage.
