Every year in Taiwan, as the Royal poincianas come into bloom, you know the season has arrived for graduating students to start delving into the job market. And every year, the university has held a job fair on campus to help with the processes –this year being an exception.
Although Taiwan has kept COVID very much under control, out of an abundance of caution, early on, the university announced that the 2020 job fair would not take place as usual. Nevertheless, actions were taken to make up for it, and the university’s Office of Career Development quickly teamed up with the highly popular online job recruitment portal, “1111 Job Bank”, to provide an alternative resource for the students.
The online job fair was a cooperative effort—and to give a formal salute to the collaborative partnership, a special Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Office of Career Development director, Chan-Wei Tsai, and 1111 Job Bank president, Wen-Hsiung Lin.
In addition to providing a virtual venue for the job fair, the multifunctional platform that was set up can be used to conduct long-distance interviews, allow students to take AI-based “mock interviews”, and provide job hunters with professional advice about how to approach the job market.
Having the job portal in place also means that students have recruitment channels that are not limited to any specific place or time. The platform can be accessed at the following URL: https://reurl.cc/V6NvKn
With 10,000 NTD incentives on the table, 1111 Job Bank is also inviting those who have been around the block to share valuable job-hunting experience and related skills, so that those who are currently seeking employment have some points of reference to help them find their direction. For graduating students who would like to continue on with advanced studies, there is also a special section on the website that provides research recommendations. Through the online forum, advanced students can share experience and advice with the incoming generation of graduates, so that they can be on the ball when it comes to research planning and preparation.
In order to promote the online platform, the NPUST Office of Career Development is holding a “Let Your Dreams Take Off” raffle on the website. Anyone who goes onto the platform and likes or shares the NPUST “fan page” and signs up to be a member of the “111 NPUST Campus Recruiting Platform” during the allotted time is eligible for the draw.
