During this year’s anniversary celebrations at NPUST, the EMBA class put on its fourth annual “charity bazar” to raise money for local causes. The activity brought in a total of 60,000 NTD, which the EMBA students will be donating to Hengchun Christian Hospital, Nan Jung Junior High and Yi-Li Elementary School to help medical treatment in rural areas and support underprivileged students.
Every year during the EMBA charity bazar, teachers, students and alumni get together for a genuine time of interaction and collaboration, creating an excellent opportunity for students and professionals to integrate theory and practice. And this year special attention was also given to the building of stronger bridges of exchange between the university and alumni who have gone on to develop careers in a wide variety of professional industries.
A number of reputable companies were present for the activities. Dah Tien Seafood and Central Farm were in attendance and donated food products to be sold in the bazar. Moment Dental Clinic, which provides one-stop quality services in oral health education, dental care, and denture making was also represented at the event and taught visitors about dental hygiene skills. Students who took part in some dental hygiene games were given free dental care products. The Bear House Inn attracted visitors by offering Facebook “check-in” incentives and information on the special stylistic features of inns in Kenting. Ji-Mei Workshop sold handmade brown sugar ginger chips, mixed nut peanut brittle and other treats; while the Mudan Township Kuskus Community Development Association promoted linden wood mushrooms and aboriginal culture. Other EMBA alumni and several local tea and coffee companies also donated goods and money in support of the causes.
NPUST’s president, Chang-Hsien Tai expressed hopes that through EMBA Alumni Association’s annual contributions, the school’s teachers and students would be able to make a positive contribution to public welfare and give back to society in a meaningful way.
